Door closed on those who want a say about Pah Rd Warehouse

Door closed on residents who want a say about Pah Rd Warehouse store

“I am extremely disappointed that Auckland Council Officers have turned down a request from Roskill Community Voice and Cr Cathy Casey to extend the deadline for local residents to make a submission about the proposed ‘Warehouse’ store on Pah Rd”, says Roskill Community Voice member of the Puketapapa Local Board Michael Wood.

“It is simply not good enough that many nearby residents have not been formally notified about the proposal. We are advised that there was one notification placed in the Public Notices of the NZ Herald, and that a relatively small number of surrounding properties received an information pack”

“Because of this limited notification, many nearby residents have only found out about the proposal because of a flyer distributed by Roskill Community Voice. Faced with a full resource consent application that is hundreds of pages long, many feel unable to submit before today, the closing date”, continues Wood.

“We felt that a modest extension of the submissions deadline would have helped residents have a say. Isn’t that the point of the whole process?”

“This isn’t about being anti-Warehouse, it is simply about wanting a fair process that gives residents a say on a major proposal that has significant traffic, noise, and amenity issues. We will hold a public meeting before Christmas to help residents do this, given that our approach to Council officers has fallen on deaf ears”, concludes Wood.
