Auckland service for Pike River
Aucklanders are invited to join in a service of remembrance and condolence for those lost in the Pike River mining disaster.
The service will be inter-denominational and open to all members of the community. It will take place from 7pm Friday 3 December at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 446 Parnell Road, Parnell.
The service follows a national memorial to the 29 miners who lost their lives that will take place in Greymouth on Thursday. Auckland Council will help coordinate the event with church and civic leaders.
For those planning to take public transport to the event there are a number of regular bus services going through Parnell, including the Link, and the nearest train station is Newmarket.
For detailed transport information, please visit www.maxx.co.nz
There will be a condolence book available to sign at the service and for those unable to attend condolence books are available to sign at the Auckland Town Hall and in all libraries across Auckland.
