Stage Two Geotech Report Welcomed
Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker has welcomed the release of EQC’s latest geotechnical report
“This new information is a welcome development and a significant step in letting the city move on,” according to Mayor Bob Parker.
EQC released the second stage report today. Based on a suburb by suburb engineering assessment of the nature and extent of the land damage, it identifies the land repair strategies for each suburb and area most affected by land damage.
“The information now available means that most of Christchurch has the green light it needs to go ahead with repairing or rebuilding earthquake damage. People with very severe or major land damage now know whether they fall into the category that will receive a wide scale coordinated repair strategy before they are able to repair/rebuild,” says Bob Parker.
“It will still take more than two years to complete repairs and rebuilding of our homes, but at least now there is a clearer road map for the work that has to be done. This is a very positive development.”
