See Kiwi chick this Saturday
See Kiwi chick this Saturday
We are delighted to
report great progress with our kiwi chicks. They have moved
out of the nursery and in to an outdoor enclosure. As well
as our Pukaha chicks, we have several from Rimutaka Forest -
so our little kindergarten of chicks is swelling!
This weekend, around 2pm, one of the chicks will be available for viewing. If you are out and about, enjoying this fabulous early summer weather, come and take a wander up to the lookout, or complete the Loop Walk, and check out our chick at 2pm.
The kiwi house remains closed, although progress on that too has been wonderful, but there is still plenty to do and see. The eel feed and talk is at 1.30, the kiwi chick at 2pm and kaka feed at 3pm - a great day out.
Garden Tour feedback - thank you
Thank you to all the Garden Tour participants who responded to our questionnaire. All the feedback has been great and we have had some wonderful ideas suggested to us. We will keep you posted on the progress of next year's event.
Hear native bird song all year long with a FREE CD when you sign up to be a member
With summer weather here at last and the holidays not far away, Pukaha provides a wonderful day trip for you, your family and your visitors.
We would love you to become a member or renew your membership. If you sign up, or renew, before 31st December, you will receive our special CD, worth $36.00, called Pukaha - songs from the forest.
It features three distinct times of the day;
The awakening; playtime; and the night sounds;
and has the bonus feature of Waiata Manu Huia - a special homage to the long-extinct Huia.
It is a hauntingly beautiful CD which comes in a stylish book full of photos and descriptions of the forest birds featured. It would make a treasured Christmas gift. Or, you can load it on to your computer so it can be playing as you are working or corresponding.

cost efficient - for example, an individual membership is
just $60.00 per person and $100.00 for a couple. There are
also family memberships which are fantastic value.
Membership gives you unlimited access to the reserve for a
year. With the new kiwi house opening this summer, a
gorgeous caf on site and a fun filled afternoon of activity
it is a great value day out. Membership is our primary
source of income. Please pass this message on to your
friends and family. We always need new members. DON'T
FORGET; join on line before 31st December 2010 to receive
the Pukaha - Songs from the forest CD and Book set worth

busier with the warmer temperatures. It is a good
indication of economic times when we see four or five buses
