Mayor to speak at AGM
Mayor to speak at AGM
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown will be speaking at the Downtown Community Ministry’s (DCM) AGM on Monday 29 November.
“We are looking forward to Mayor Wade-Brown speaking. We are really encouraged by her willingness to be involved with our community and her support shows that she considers the work that we do at DCM valuable,” says Stephanie McIntyre, Director of DCM.
The Mayor will be speaking on the topic of: How the Council intends to address the circumstances of Wellington’s disadvantaged people.
DCM’s Annual Report will also be available from Monday. The report shows the increase in the number of people using our foodbank services and the length of time people are requiring our support. This highlights three key points: the cost of basic survival relative to income has increased; low-skilled part-time and casual work has decreased; and the “benefits” of tax cuts are not available to the poorer members of our community.
The AGM will be held at Compassion House at 5.30pm, where you will also be able to get a copy of the annual report. We invite the community to attend. Please RSVP by Thursday 25 November to events@dcm.org.nz or 04 384 7699. If you are unable to attend, but would like a copy of the annual report, please let us know.
