The Warehouse has revealed that the charity’s ranges of Christmas cards and wrapping paper are almost sold out, with just over a month before Christmas Day.
Variety will receive a donation from the sale of each pack of cards or wrapping paper - funds raised will support Variety’s Gold Heart Scholarship programme, designed to help talented New Zealand children facing serious personal challenges achieve their lifelong dreams in the areas of sport, education, music and the arts.
“Purchasing Variety-branded Christmas cards and wrapping paper is a meaningful way for New Zealanders to support a charity this festive season – in the current environment, many children and their families are still struggling financially, and this promotion will help us to help them reach their full potential,” said Lorraine Taylor, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity.
There are 16 card designs featuring traditional and contemporary imagery which are competitively priced at five dollars for a pack of ten cards and envelopes. The wrapping paper comes in five different designs and costs $9.99. Both will be available in all 88 Warehouse stores nationwide.
“We are delighted with the success of the programme so far this year and look forward the range selling out well before Christmas, all for a good cause,” said Jenni Ryan, General Manager Marketing for The Warehouse.
The Variety Gold Heart Scholarship programme makes available to each recipient a maximum of $5,000 per year for up to three years. This may include assisting with tuition fees, personal development, coaching, purchase of training equipment, travel or accommodation. Leading professionals and celebrities are also matched with the recipients to mentor them in their chosen pursuits.
Variety is currently celebrating its 21st anniversary in New Zealand – since 1989, it has distributed over $12 million in grants to help Kiwi kids reach their full potential.
Applications for the 2011 Variety Gold Heart Scholarship Fund will open in early 2011.
