There’s a new market in town...
On Friday, 3rd of
December, just a few weeks before Christmas, come to the
Perc, at 142 Stuart Street for the launch of Dunedin’s
newest market.
Moxie Market will be open from 5pm –
8pm and, while this will be the only one for this year,
plans to become a regular monthly fixture in 2011.
Moxie founders, Diane Whitford and Hannah Molloy saw a gap in the Dunedin market scene for high-end crafts, and, on a shoe-string budget, are looking forward to the success of their venture.
Diane says, “We both love making pretty things and there has really been nowhere to sell our work. We decided, why not just do our own market and offer Dunedin something different – a fresh take. We think the Moxie Market style will appeal to Dunedin people.”
Moxie’s first 15 stall holders are all local people with an eye for detail and a knack for making beautiful, unusual items that will attract the discerning shopper.
From silver-smithed earrings to hand-painted glass, from bead jewellery to one-of-a-kind prisms, from art to keyrings, mosaic mirrors to scarves, badges made from maps and playing cards to clothes handmade from vintage fabric, there will be something at Moxie for everyone.
“The Perc will be transformed into a treasure trove of things to look at and buy, for yourself or someone who should have something that no one else has.” adds Hannah.
