Creative Communities arts funding information evening next week
ROTORUA 18.11.10: Rotorua District Council (RDC) is encouraging local arts groups and individuals to attend an information evening next
week to learn how they can access funding for their creative projects.
The Creative Communities Rotorua information evening is on Wednesday 24 November from 5.30pm to 7pm at RAVE.
The Creative Communities scheme supports local communities to create opportunities for participating in arts activities
within the Rotorua district.
Funding is available next year for applications that meet one of three of the scheme’s criteria, including broad
community involvement, diversity, and young people.
RDC Community Projects Officer Bob Austin says the group’s assessment committee is keen to attract applications from all
parts of the community at Wednesday’s event.
“We want to ensure that potential applicants are not put off by either the application process or their idea being
thought of as ‘too way out’.
“The promotional evening encourages allcomers, especially young people, to come along and share their ideas, ask
questions and hopefully apply to the next funding round in February 2011 for assistance with their new and innovative
projects.”
