Food supply to Canterbury not in doubt
Food and Grocery Council (FGC) Chief Executive Katherine Rich says that the food supply to the Canterbury region is not in doubt and that today’s headlines claiming otherwise could mislead or cause unnecessary concern.
“New Zealand has a robust food and grocery supply network. Unlike similar disasters around the world, it’s a good news story that continuity of supply was maintained so effectively.
“Christmas is a busy period for all grocery suppliers up and down the country, but our members have plans in place. We agree with our retail partners Foodstuffs and Progressive that there is no “doubt” or “fear” about getting groceries to Canterbury.” Mrs Rich said.
