Kevin Milne set to draw a new crowd at next Electra Business Breakfast
Former Fair Go presenter, new author, and passionate local, Kevin Milne, will speak at the next Electra Business Breakfast at Southwards Museum Restaurant Wednesday 3 November 2010. Organisers are expecting Mr Milne's presence to attract a new Business Breakfast audience.
Chris Barber, Chief Executive at Nature Coast Enterprise, says Mr Milne’s presence at the breakfast will attract a different kind of audience. “For those that don’t usually attend these breakfasts, coming to hear Kevin speak will break the ice,” says Mr Barber. “He’s a real hero for our region, yet he’s down to earth and will call a spade a spade.
Mr Barber says networking is an important part of how business is done on the coast. “Business breakfasts are as much about connecting with other people as much as business," he says.
Mr Milne began his broadcasting career with the NZBC in 1970 and joined Fair Go in 1984 - the last year it was fronted by Brian Edwards. Mr Milne took over fronting Fair Go in the mid-nineties.
Kevin’s Fair Go Investigations have produced some of the biggest payouts seen on the programme, including the largest of $350,000.
He was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours, for his services to broadcasting and the community. He also won a Qantas Media Award for Best News or Current Affairs Presenter in 2009 and 2004.
This year, in a Reader's Digest Poll, he was also voted the second most trusted man in the country after Willie Apiata.
Mr Milne has recently completed his autobiography The Life and Times of a Brown Paper Bag, published by Random House.
Business Breakfasts are sponsored by Electra.
