Hurry Up Duke! Plush Installation By Antoinette Ratcliffe.

At last, someone was able to help the slashed up and dying bear, Morris. The bunnies Sugar and Sadie had been
unsuccessful with their first aid kit in previous installations, but Duke the zombie Dachshund has transformed Morris
into a zombie bear. They keep each other company, but Morris is still having trouble training Duke to be a bit more
civilized.
Antoinette Ratcliffe is a Wellington artist, doing her MA at The School of Media Arts. Antoinette's content related
interests are a development of thematic narrative using banal situations and anthropomorphic association to create an
existentially humorous situation which alludes to a B grade horror film with a comic influence. The punch lines are
created with the banality, the kitsch bond and the actions that the characters illustrate in their situation. Antoinette
is continuing to develop her characters, providing new situations in the frame by frame comic book narrative aesthetic
for exhibition. In the future she would like to create a publication which will document the plush installations and
play off the comic book humour. The next time Duke and Morris will be out and about will be in February 2011 at Ramp
Gallery in Hamilton and The School of Media Arts window space on Ward Street. Watch details unfold on her website,

A4 ARTFEST: AN ART EXHIBITION BY DEAF AND HEARING IMPAIRED STUDENTS.
OPEN: 11.00 - 6.00pm daily.
CLOSING: 6.00 - 7.45pm Saturday 27 November.
Deaf and Hearing Impaired students from The Learning Connexion International School of Art and Creativity are pleased to
present A4 Artfest - their 4th annual group art exhibition.
12 artists from around the country have joined forces to create a diverse and inspiring collection of artworks. With an
open theme and a wide range of media to enjoy - including painting, printmaking, collage, 3D and digital media - there
will be plenty to stimulate the senses.
In an interesting turn of events, this year’s exhibition will be celebrated not with an opening night, but with a
closing night. Designed to coincide with another national Deaf event held later in the evening, it will be the perfect
way to mark the conclusion of the exhibition. The closing night event will take place on Saturday 27 November - 6.00 -
