Taupo Locals Come Out In Force To Support Hukafalls Jet’s Annual Charity Weekend
The sun shone on Hukafalls Jet this weekend as they held their annual Charity Locals’ Weekend. With record numbers forecast, Taupo locals certainly didn’t disappoint as they turned out in droves to support fundraising efforts for two worthy local causes.
Funds raised totalled $16440 with 822 locals taking a ride. This beats the previous record set in 2008.
This year, Hukafalls Jet chose The Taupo Parents’ Centre and Taupo Golf Club’s Mobile Emergency Cart as the two recipients of the weekend, where all proceeds are donated by the company. Hukafalls Jet supplies the boats, fuel, staff and all other operating costs, while locals took a ride at heavily discounted rates to the base of Huka Falls.
“It was a fantastic weekend, with a really great vibe – lots of locals having a blast, some of them for the first time on Hukafalls Jet,” says Sales & Marketing Manager, Michelle Caldwell. “There really is no better way to raise money for our local projects than by involving the local community in what has become an annual family event.”
More FM supplied live radio crosses all weekend, and supplied awesome music to entertain the crowds, while the Parents Centre baked up a storm and raised more money through a cake stall. Meanwhile, locals also got to try their hand at their chipping skills with Taupo Golf Club pro’s on hand to give them some free tips. The Golf Club juniors cooked up a sausage sizzle to keep the crowds satisfied while they waited for their jet boat ride.
Hukafalls Jet is this month celebrating 20 years in business in Lake Taupo, and this is their 10th Locals Day. “And yes, we’ll definitely be doing it all again next year,” promises Michelle.
