Final plea for bras!!
Final plea for bras!!
We are close but not close enough! GirlGuiding NZ has been working to hard to raise awareness of breast cancer by collecting bras to attempt to break the Guinness World Record of 200,000 bras by 27 November.
Our total has us at about 105,000 bras at the collection point in Dargaville. The Guides in Dargaville, along with local community support, have been doing a fantastic job, counting the bras as they receive them, putting 100 bras in plastic bags, all ready for the record attempt when they need to be hooked together in one long continuous chain.
Everyone’s efforts have been amazing to get us to this total, but we need more. One last push please to get your bras to us by 27 November!
The current record is 166,000 bras achieved by the Australians.
The girls are absolutely determined to break the record and we don’t want to disappoint them. However we can only do this with your help – so find those bras that you might have been hanging on to but really know you won’t wear again and donate them to a very worthy cause.
All of the bras in good condition are being sent to women overseas as a way of giving back.
Girls in Guiding have had so much fun doing this “Pink Star” challenge. The activities they have undertaken to raise awareness of breast cancer have been varied and often challenging. They proudly wear the badge that they have earned.
Clothing store Postie and Bendon outlet stores are on board to support the campaign by collecting bras at their stores nationwide.
