Making Guy Fawkes safer

To keep beaches and parks safe for everyone this Guy Fawkes, Auckland City Council and New Zealand Police will once again be implementing a fireworks ban on public spaces.

The ban is applicable between Wednesday, 3 November and Saturday, 6 November and includes the following locations:

o Achilles Point
o
o Kohimarama beach
o
o Ladies Bay
o
o Michael Joseph Savage Memorial
o
o Orakei Domain
o
o Selwyn Domain
o
o St Heliers Bay beach
o
o Vellenoweth Green
o
o Watene Reserve
o
o Okahu Bay and Okahu Landing
o
o Whenua Rangatira
o
o Glover Park
o
o Madills Farm
o
o Tahuna Torea
o
o Mechanics Bay
o
o Tamaki Drive (from Mechanics Bay to Achilles Point).
o
In addition, gates to some of the city’s parks on volcanic cones will be closed to vehicle traffic at the earlier time of 6pm between November 5 to 7. Parks affected are:

o Maungawhau-Mt Eden
o
o Owairaka-Mt Albert
o
o Maungarei-Mt Wellington
o
o Maungakiekie-One Tree Hill
o
o Puketapapa-Mt Roskill
o
o Michael Joseph Savage
o
The ban will not prevent people letting fireworks off on private property.
