Keep The Hobbit Film Shoot In NZ Group
Excitement is building amongst New Zealanders who are attending rallies in support of Sir Peter Jackson and other producers as they meet with Warner Bros. executives scheduled to arrive in New Zealand on Monday. The meeting is seen as critical to the future of The Hobbit remaining in NZ.
The “Rallies of Support” were called for by Auckland actor Mark Harrison, founder of the Keep The Hobbit Film Shoot in NZ Facebook page, to show positive support to Warners and Sir Peter. With over 20,000 pending invites to the Facebook event and over 3,000 confirmed participants, film industry members are the public are getting behind Sir Peter by attending rallies in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Queenstown and Matamata.
The rallies are scheduled to start at 1pm on Labour Day Monday at the venues listed below. All members of the film industry, related industries, such as tourism, and members of the public who support Sir Peter and keeping the shoot in New Zealand are welcome and encouraged to attend. Fine weather is anticipated with a fun family atmosphere including members of the performing arts community providing entertainment.
“The rallies are a positive show of love for Sir Peter and to show Warners what shooting the film in New Zealand means to all of us” says Harrison. “Sir Peter and Warners have both had an enormously positive effect on New Zealand, its film industry and tourism. Its up to us to show them how much we appreciate it and that we want them to stay.”
