New board member welcomed

Venture Taranaki Trust, the charitable trust aimed at growing the Taranaki regional economy, welcomes local businessman and former New Plymouth Mayor Peter Tennent to its Board of Trustees.

“We welcome Peter to the Board and look forward to the contribution he will make to the governance of the Trust and the regional economy,” said acting Chair Robin Brockie.

“Peter’s considerable experience in local government issues, governance and the Taranaki business environment will add a considerable resource to the board table, and to the region.

“We are pleased to have secured someone of Peter’s stature, and very much welcome the skills and connections that he brings to the Trust.”

Peter fills the untimely vacancy created by the death of Trust Chair John Young NZOM, JP, who passed away on 15 September.

Other Board members are Robin Brockie, Gavin Faull, Sir Paul Reeves, Roy Weaver and Paul Winter.

An announcement on the permanent appointment of Chair will be made in December, following a full meeting of the Board.
