Tenby Powell congratulates Mike Lee as Councillor for Auckland’s Waitemata and Gulf Islands.
The election results announced today show a convincing win for Mike Lee as the new Auckland Councillor for the Waitemata & Gulf Ward. I extend my congratulations to Mike and offer him my support to work together on ideas that will see Auckland progress.
“For the last few months people from across Auckland have come to realise that their city is facing a significant change in the way it is run and the results show that people expect change in the leadership style and are looking for a more collaborative approach,” said Mr Powell.
“With the opportunity of a fresh new Council, Aucklanders deserve better than they’ve had before, and I am looking forward to working with Mike Lee and the new Councillors”
Mr Powell said that having resigned various directorships to focus on his campaign, he will now be giving serious consideration to the directorship offers while continuing to support local government initiatives that create value and builds the economic and social wellbeing of Auckland.
“I believe that I can offer skills and experiences that can be of value to the new Auckland Council particularly in the area of infrastructure developments,” said Mr Powell.
“However, it is now time for Aucklanders to get behind our new Council and Mayor Brown and support it as they tackle the hurdles holding this great city back from reaching its full potential,” said Mr Powell.
