New Roading Contract Awarded
New Roading Contract Awarded
Sicon Limited has again been successful in being awarded the Council’s contract for maintaining the district’s roading network. Sicon is a local company based in Darfield, with a well-established depot in Rangiora.
This contract, which is for a period of up to five years, commences on November 1st.
As Sicon holds the current road maintenance contract, the transition to the new contract is expected to proceed smoothly. Motorists and other road users will experience little noticeable change.
Sicon won the contract through a strongly competitive tendering process that considered attributes such as personnel, systems and quality, as well as price.
The Council is pleased to be continuing its relationship with Sicon, as it has been involved in maintaining the district’s roads for many years and has a good knowledge of the network.
It is expected the new contract will deliver better results in road maintenance over time. “That’s because the new contract has clearer and better defined levels of service,” says Council Roading Manager Ken Stevenson.
As a result, the expectation is that road maintenance work will be better coordinated and carried out more efficiently.
Road marking and resealing work are now also included in the new contract.
