Taxis added to the Snapper network.
Wellington, 23 September 2010.
Snapper today announced that its leading contactless payment system is now available on another mode of transport in the Greater Wellington Region. Snapper customers can now enjoy the speed and convenience of Snapper in over 700 taxis throughout Wellington, as well as hundreds of buses, retailers and the harbour ferry.
Snapper CEO Miki Szikszai says “We are pleased to be able to offer Snapper customers even more places where they can use Snapper to make payments quickly and easily. Adding taxis to the Snapper network has more than doubled the places where customers can use Snapper. We think there are great benefits for more than 135,000 Snapper cardholders.”
“There are three main benefits to accepting Snapper in a taxi.”
Speed, control and getting rid of paper.
“Firstly its about speed. As part of our testing and pilot programme taxi drivers have told us that they are impressed with Snapper’s transaction speed, especially when compared to traditional Chip and PIN cards which take up to 30 seconds per transaction. Drivers have told us that paying with Snapper will be quicker and easier for them. Snapper customers already tell us that they love speeding past the queues when paying with Snapper, so it’s great to be able to offer this same experience when they catch a taxi.”
“Secondly, Snapper is a great way to control expenses, whether it’s at a personal level or in a business. It’s much more effective than using a credit card. Business customers across the public and private sector already use Snapper cards for transport to and from meetings on Wellington’s great bus network. Now, if you are running a little late for a meeting, you can Snapper your taxi there, and bus back.”
“Thirdly, with Snapper’s online transaction history customers can stop cluttering their wallets with receipts, and print off a single all-inclusive Snapper receipt at the end of the month.”
Snapper and TaxiCharge.
Snapper has partnered with TaxiCharge to offer Snapper in taxis through the Greater Wellington Region. Snapper is available from today on the following taxi company services:
• Wellington Combined Taxis
• Hutt and City Taxis
• Porirua City Taxis
• Paraparaumu Taxis
Mr Szikszai says “We’re pleased to be working with TaxiCharge on this service. They are the leaders in taxi payments in New Zealand and we look forward to the opportunity of extending this relationship.”
Building up for Rugby World Cup.
“It’s great to have taxis accepting Snapper a year out from Rugby World Cup. It’s another reason why the 60,000 tourists that will be arriving in New Zealand - unfamiliar with our currency - will immediately see the benefit of Snapper for getting around Wellington’s major venues.”
