Clean Up Week starts today

Clean Up Week starts today

Winter’s over and it’s time to roll up our sleeves and give Hutt City a spring clean.

The New World/Four Square National Clean Up Week starts today and runs until 24 September and we’re encouraging residents to get involved.

In Hutt City we’ll be cleaning up until 26 September so there’s an extra weekend to help out.

In past year’s volunteers have chosen spots across the city to spruce up from Petone Foreshore, to the CBD, to their local shopping centre.

Mayor David Ogden is hoping for a good turn out this year too.

“Clean Up Week is about everyone pitching in and doing their bit to keep Hutt City and New Zealand beautiful,” he says.

Individuals, groups and schools can register with us to take part and we make it easy to get involved All you need to do is choose an area of the city you think needs tidying and send in a registration form.

23 local schools and 19 groups have already registered.

Litter clean up bags and disposable gloves will be provided and we’ll collect the filled bags when you’re finished.

On Thursday 23 September we’ll also have a Clean Up Week display at Westfield Queensgate to encourage people to take part and start thinking about things they can do to reduce their impact on the environment.
