New Chief Executive Appointed at Porirua
New Chief Executive Appointed at Porirua City Council
Gary Simpson has returned to Porirua City Council with his appointment as the Council's new Chief Executive.
Mr Simpson comes from Kapiti Coast District Council where he was Deputy Chief Executive and Group Manager, Asset & Services for the past four years.
Before that he had worked for more than 20 years at Porirua City Council as General Manager for Leisure and Recreation.
Mayor Brash says Mr Simpson was selected from a strong field of applicants.
"Gary is an excellent choice and certainly has the skills to meet the challenges ahead for our Council and City. He lives locally and is passionate and committed to Porirua City and its communities – being an avid supporter of North's Rugby Club. He brings back all the knowledge, skills and experience he held when he worked here and has extended his management responsibilities in the infrastructure area while at KCDC. I have every confidence that Porirua will be in very capable hands and he will serve the city well."
Acting Chief Executive David Rolfe agrees.
"Gary's recent experience at Kapiti has broadened his knowledge and expertise of the many functions that come with overseeing the management of a Council such as ours. I'm sure that many people at PCC will be happy to see him return."
