Independents New Way Forward for Auckland
Today’s announcement by Waitemata Local Board candidate Hinu te Hau that she is standing as an Independent candidate shows that the old political tickets are collapsing says Waitemata & Gulf Ward Council Candidate Tenby Powell.
“Hinu te Hau’s decision to break away from the Citizens & Ratepayers political ticket is further demonstration that a new dawn is upon Auckland’s new city,” said Mr Powell.
“I would like extend my support for Ms Te Hau and believe she has a significant role to play in the Waitemata Ward and is one candidate that really understands the needs of her community.”
Mr Powell said that “Auckland deserves better than the old style political wrangling that the left and right political tickets have forced upon this city and communities are realising that Independent candidates are presenting a fresh, visionary and optimistic future.”
“I commend Hinu te Hau for her courageous decision, her role on the Hobson Community Board and look forward to working with her on local community issues,” said Mr Powell.
