No postal delivery this Saturday due to quake
No Postal Delivery Services this Saturday in Canterbury Quake Area
New Zealand Post postal services in Canterbury will be suspended for one day, this Saturday, September 11.
New Zealand Post Group CEO Brian Roche says Posties, Rural delivery and box sorting employees and contractors in the quake affected area who normally work six-days a week, will get a break.
CourierPost will also not be making deliveries this Saturday, however the urgent delivery Pace service will still be operating.
“Our people have done a tremendous job to keep the mail system working.
“New Zealand Post employees and contractors, despite all being personally affected by the quake, have worked all week and got the job done.
“However the effects of stress and fatigue can’t be ignored and we have decided to give some of our people a well deserved breather,” Mr Roche said.
The temporary suspension of services on Saturday means there will be no postal, PO Box and rural mail deliveries in Christchurch and related rural areas which have been affected by the quake.
PostShops and PostCentres will be open as usual on Saturday, apart from those currently closed due to safety and access issues. For updates on the status of New Zealand Post Services in the quake affected area, go to our website www.nzpost.co.nz
