Lake Wanaka is must-visit destination
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (August 26, 2010) –
Lake Wanaka is a must-visit destination for New Zealanders
according to a “bucket list” survey published this week
by Fidelity Life.
In the survey, Kiwis were asked what they would want to do if they only had a year to live and 51% responded they would like to travel round the country to see more of their homeland with Lake Wanaka named as a top destination.
Lake Wanaka Tourism general manager, James Helmore, said while he was delighted Lake Wanaka was top of the list, he was not surprised. “Wanaka is a spectacular destination, it’s incredibly beautiful with Mt Aspiring National Park on the doorstep and has a wonderful relaxed way of life, which we are dedicated to preserving for generations to come,” he said. “From mountain biking to wine tasting, hiking to jet boating, there’s something here for everyone. Plus it’s very easy to get here with direct Air New Zealand flights from Christchurch.”
Mr Helmore went on to say the domestic tourism market had become increasingly popular to New Zealand destinations during the global recession and had been a focus of Lake Wanaka Tourism’s marketing activity.
