artsMAD evening for art lovers
ROTORUA 12.08.10:
Local art lovers are once again encouraged
to hear what makes some of Rotorua’s best creative talent
tick at the fifth annual artsMAD (arts, Media, Architecture
and Design) next week.
The free Rotorua District
Council (RDC) coordinated event brings artists, architects
and designers together to share their inspirations with
the community.
RDC community arts officer Kiri Jarden says artsMAD offers short and dynamic presentations showcasing some of Rotorua’s best creative talent.
“There is lots of interest in the community about local arts and design – the inspiration, the variety, and the human stories. Six minutes is never quite enough, but it’s a great format for both artist and audience.”
Presenters at next week’s event include
architect and designer Kerri Cunningham, sculptor Trevor
Nathan, muralist Marc Spijkerbosch, photographer Joni, and
potter and musician Rob Powley.
Local artist Jill Walker
coordinates the event with Ms Jarden and says while artsMAD
provides an opportunity for the community to hear what
inspires the creativity of local talent - it may also
inspire the audience.
artsMAD is on Monday 16 August from 5.30pm at The Pheasant Plucker on Arawa St.
