Will Auckland Super City mayor have super powers?
Does becoming the Auckland Super City mayor give you
super powers?
Obviously. In
a New Zealand Herald article it was reported that
mayoral candidates John Banks and Len Brown were not down
with the plan of putting Auckland’s water services into
the hands of private companies for the next 35 years.
Well that’s great but neither am I and I can’t imagine any of the other mayoral candidates are either. The Herald article went on to say that John and Len were “committed to keeping Auckland's $5 billion worth of water assets in public ownership under the Super City”.
That’s nice. That’s real sweet. I myself am for ideas along the line of world peace, no more trafficking of humans and people who are cruel to animals should get out of the gene pool.
I mean they’re nice ideas.
I would like to know how John and Len propose to keep Auckland’s water and potentially all the other assets the people of Auckland control in the hands of the people. It’s all very well to sit here on this side of an election and promise voters the moon but how will these two men actually make it happen? How will they deliver?
How will these two men stand up to the government?
