Barriers To Go
Barriers To Go – Trial Information To Be Used For Further Traffic Management And Safety Improvements
Temporary barriers on Victoria and Ulster streets between Mill and Liverpool streets will be removed today following the Transport Committee’s decision based on the findings of a three month trial.
City transportation manager Phil Consedine says he greatly appreciates motorists, cyclists and occupiers in the affected area for their patience and thanks them for bearing with the inconvenience the trial may have caused them.
“The trial southbound on Victoria and Ulster streets has provided valuable information that will allow us to make improvements in the vicinity. These will include optimising of queues through traffic lights adjustments, improvements to lane markings and signage on the approach legs to promote better efficiency and improve arterial route traffic flow.”
The trial was in place while improvements to three intersections along Mill Street were undertaken that aim to maximise the capacity of Mill Street, lower congestion at intersections and improve road safety and cycle facilities. They were brought together into one project to maximise the capacity of the central city connector while supporting the goals of CityHeart and Access Hamilton.
