Queenstown Café Wins Top Award
Queenstown’s long-standing cafe, Vudu Café, has won top regional honours in the Café Magazines annual, Best Cafe Awards.
The multi award winning café impressed the judges once again taking out Best Regional Café in Queenstown/Wanaka for 2010. Joes Garage were runners up.
Described by chief judge, Michael Guy, as a notable café that ‘consistently delivers superbly made coffee and top quality honest food’, Vudu Café has regularly featured in the awards over the past 12 years.
“That shows what consistency can do and they appear to be ahead of the game down there in Queenstown with a really fresh approach to food and service,” says Michael Guy.
“So often Queenstown restaurants become overpriced and touristy but Vudu Café really stands out for its affordability while maintaining top quality food and service during the day and for its night service.”
He says the owners have always kept a focus on locals with tourists getting the great rub off from that resulting in Vudu Café becoming iconic.
Owners Michelle Freeman and Chris Vile are delighted their Beach St Café has once again been recognised by these prestigious awards.
“It’s an outstanding result for the café and our entire team and it shows that we are consistently achieving a high level of service and food delivery to our customers. Vudu has grown substantially over the years and this award underlines the cult international following we have developed,” says Chris Vile.
The Vudu Café brand has recently expanded with a new café, Vudu Café and Larder opening on Queenstown’s spectacular waterfront with entrances on both the lakeside and from Rees St.
“It’s a fabulous new building with a vintage, industrial styled fit out that is certainly attracting a huge number of locals and visitors particularly from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. We have installed a state of the art kitchen upstairs where all our baking is freshly prepared each day and the sunny location is proving to be a real winner.”
