Travelling Tradition Nets Lotto player $1 million
A lucky Lotto player’s tradition of buying a Lotto ticket in each new place that she visits has paid off with a $1 million Lotto First Division win.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was staying in Levin on business when she purchased her winning ticket from Levin Mall Lotto.
“Every time I go out of town I buy a Lotto ticket from the place I’m visiting, it’s just a habit I have got into”, said the woman.
After the draw on Saturday, the winner checked her Levin ticket and found she had all the winning Lotto numbers.
“I was so shocked that I had to call a friend to recheck my numbers for me. He called me a silly bugger and asked if I was playing a practical joke on him,” she laughs.
The woman plans to spend her money paying off her mortgage, investing her money and doing something nice for friends and family.
“I believe in helping people out, so I have some friends that I know could do with a little bit of cheering up”, she said.
This week’s Lotto and Powerball draw has a massive combined total of $7.2 million up for grabs.
