Applications Now Open For Community Trust Funds
SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust is inviting local community groups and charity organisations in the Queenstown Lakes District area to submit applications for the 2010 annual funding round.
Since 2002, the SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust has donated $805,000 to more than 200 charitable organisations and community groups as part of its commitment and contribution to the Queenstown community.
“The Trust is delighted to invite groups to apply to our eighth annual funding round. We very much enjoy staying in touch with our community through this process and being in a position to recognise those groups that do so much to make the Lakes District a great place to live,” said Clark Pirie, Trust Chairman.
In 2009, more than $80,000 was distributed to support a wide variety of projects and organisations including Wanakafest Community Trust, the Wakatipu Toy Library, Arrowtown Village Association, Central and Southern Autism Support Group, Gibbston Community Association and Wakatipu Victim Support.
Mr Pirie chairs the volunteer Trust alongside his full-time occupation as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He is also a well known member of the Queenstown community as a partner with Macalister Todd Phillips. Mr Pirie is joined by Trustees Jim Ryan, Vicki Buckham and Kim Wilkinson.
Michelle Baillie, Executive Manager SKYCITY Queenstown, said she was pleased to have the applications opened again and she thanked the trustees for their commitment in careful distribution of the funds.
Applications close on Friday July 30 2010, and the list of successful applicants will be confirmed in September 2010.
Funding by SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust will continue each year with applications sought every June.
