Voting Underway For AMP People’s Choice Award

Voting Underway For Inspiring Kiwi To Win $10,000 AMP People’s Choice Award

Voting is underway for a kiwi, passionate about “doing their thing,” to win the $10,000 AMP People’s Choice Award. The award is open to the more than 1200 applicants in the running for 2010 AMP Scholarships.

The AMP Scholarships are open to all New Zealand citizens and permanent residents, of any age, background, ethnicity and area of interest. They are to be awarded from a pool of more than $200,000. Contenders for the AMP People’s Choice Scholarship include a 92-year-old world-class swimmer, a bagpipe creator and an aspiring unicyclist.

The People’s Choice award will be given to the applicant who has the most votes on the “do your thing” website when voting closes on 31 July. Individuals can vote online at www.doyourthing.co.nz

AMP Corporate Marketing Manager, Wendy Rayman said,

“Our 2010 AMP Scholarship applicants are an amazing source of Kiwi talent, ingenuity and inspiration. Everyone recognises an inspiring New Zealander. So we are asking all kiwis to go on line and vote for the applicant who best demonstrates the courage, passion, determination and commitment to “ do their thing” and make their dreams a reality.

“Kiwis pride themselves on giving back to New Zealand and we’re proud to play a part in helping kiwis support the applicant they believe most deserves extra help to do even more.

Since 1998, the AMP Scholarship Programme has awarded 100 Kiwis more than $1 million to help them achieve great things. The 2010 AMP Scholarship Programme winners will be announced at a national black tie dinner in October this year.

AMP’s 2010 scholarship application process has closed. Next year people will be able to apply for an AMP Scholarship between 1 April and 30 May 2011.
