SOAC halts High Court action

After consultation with its lawyers, Save Our Arts Centre has this week taken the initiative to discontinue its action in the High Court against the Arts Centre Trust Board.

"The reason is really quite simple. Because we [with others] achieved the great victory of defeating the Music School proposal in the recent Resource Consent hearing, we no longer have a specific proposal for the High Court to consider [and the Court does not like hypothetical cases]. Of course, had we not won the Resource Consent case, we would have had a specific proposal on which to continue with the High Court action" today said Dame Ann Hercus, Spokesperson for Save Our Arts Centre

"It should be noted that SOAC has reserved the right to go back to the High Court any time in the future, should another objectionable specific building proposal at the Arts Centre appear in the future" added Dame Ann.
