Action against Citizens’ Club liquor licence abandoned

ROTORUA 01.06.10: Action against the Rotorua Citizens’ Club for alleged breaches of its liquor licence has been abandoned following a meeting of the club’s executive and the Rotorua District Licensing Authority (DLA).

Licensing Authority secretary Nigel Wharton said that as a result of yesterday’s meeting [Monday 31 May] the DLA was now satisfied that the club had in place adequate arrangements to comply with its liquor licence requirements.

He said those arrangements were specifically around who may be served alcohol on the premises.

The Rotorua District Licensing Agency is a statutory committee operating under the 1989 Sale of Liquor Act and is made up of the district mayor, two councillors and Rotorua District Council’s environmental services director.

The DLA is charged with ensuring that licensed premises comply with conditions set out in the act.
