2010 Bluff Oyster & Food Festival - Some Scenes May Contain Nudity

One of the exciting new features on this years programme at the Bluff Oyster & Food Festival is the launch of the "Bluff Fishermen Bare It All" Calendar.

The 2011 calendar is a case of 'Calendar Girls' meets 'Million Dollar Catch' and all proceeds will go to the Bluff Pool fundraising effort.

The calendar launch takes place on the Festival's outdoor stage at 11.45am and immediately after the launch the calendars will be on sale for $20 each. Many of the models will be on hand to autograph their respective month for a gold coin donation which will also go to the pool. Another feature of the launch will be the auctioning of an autographed banner replicating the front cover of the publication.

The calendar was dreamed up by Jean Jablonski and the ladies at Stella's In Bluff Cafe and Bakery. Hank Low was one of the initial models approached and once he had signed on for the good of the pool that convinced others the project was serious. Another Bluff resident Lorraine Bowen raised sponsorship from Bluff businesses, who were incredibly generous in their support, to cover the cost of printing while Karen Johnson donated her considerable photographic prowess to the project.

The finished product is a polished publication that will be seen publicly for the first time at 11.45am tomorrow.

The Festival Committee have also offered to match any donations from stallholders, bands, performers and groups who are involved with the Festival on the day who give to the pool fund.

The Festival takes place at the Real Journeys site on Foreshore Road adjacent to the Old Town Wharf in Bluff from 11am on Saturday 22 May.

Tickets are on sale at a cost of $16 each while tickets for children 12 & under will sell at $5 each. The Festival venue is limited to 5000 people on the day so Festival organisers are urging people to pre-book to ensure they gain admission on the day.

The Festival will feature a mouthwatering array of food and beverage with the Bluff Oyster the star of the show. Other activities include the Oyster Eating and Opening Races along with a varied programme of musical entertainment.

EFTPOS facilities will be available at the venue as well as at the Bluff Service Centre, 100 metres from the site on Gore Street. Car parking is also available on Foreshore Road within easy walking distance of the Festival site. Bus services will operate from Invercargill on the at a cost of $12 return at 10am, 11am and 12 noon before returning at 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.
