Smartride card pays for itself
Smartride card pays for itself
Purchasing a Tauranga Smartride card will now effectively be free for bus users. The $10 cost of purchase will give passengers $10 worth of travel on the Tauranga Bay Hopper bus service.
Previously the card cost $20 to purchase and came with $10 credit for travel.
Environment Bay of Plenty Transport Committee Chairman Andrew von Dadelszen said the cost had been cut to enable more people to get set up with Smartride cards.
“We want to make bus travel as easy and accessible as we can in Tauranga so we’re offering the card to our passengers for free. The Smartride card itself offers cheaper rides for passengers and time savings as well,” said Councillor von Dadelszen.
Cards can be purchased from the Tauranga and Mt Maunganui iSites or on board any Tauranga Bay Hopper buses.
