Thousands of eggs up for grabs on Quail Island

Black Cat Cruises is giving away thousands of Easter eggs next weekend as part of an Easter egg hunt on Quail Island.

“We wanted to do something special and different for Easter,” Black Cat Cruises Managing Director Paul Bingham said.

“We did it for the first time last year over two days and we had to turn people away so we’ve gone for four days this year.”

Quail Island is a 15 minute ride by ferry from Lyttelton Harbour.  On board the ferry passengers will be given a map of the Island and an outline of the hunt for Easter eggs.

“It’s a great time out with family and friends, hunting the Island for pink and blue stones and then exchanging them for Easter Eggs.  On your hunting trip you will also discover ship wrecks, volcanic cliffs, stunning scenery and even a leprosy grave,” Bingham said.

There are two trips operating each day over Easter departing at 10.20am and 12.20pm and Bingham says anyone wanting to go should book early to avoid the dissappointment of missing out.

“We have a whole office over flowing with chocolate Easter Eggs and they’ll all go next weekend.”
