Update On Fatal Crash In Blenheim
Blenheim police have completed their scene examination of the fatal accident at the intersection of Hutcheson and Nelson Street.
A post mortem examination will be carried out on the victim on Monday, who police say is a 51-year-old local woman. Her identity will be released once all family members have been notified.
The driver of the other vehicle is a 20-year-old woman who was treated at Wairau hospital and discharged.
A blood sample has been taken from the woman and will be examined to establish if she was affected by alcohol.
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the crash which occurred at 9.45pm on Friday night.
Police say reports that the incident involved a police pursuit are incorrect.
Investigations are continuing and Blenheim police say no further statement will be issued until late Sunday.
