GO Study or GO Shopping with GO Wellington

GO Wellington has introduced a new permanent route to its service to coincide with Orientation Week at Victoria University.

The new route, route 47, will run from Johnsonville to Newtown and has been created with students in mind to help them get easily to and from their university classes.
“We make sure we listen to our customers,” says Bruce Kenyon, General Manager of GO Wellington. “Bus travel is an affordable means of transport, so we know our services are important to university students.”

“The new route 47 has been purposely designed to offer a service for students and staff travelling from Wellington’s northern suburbs to the university campuses,” continues Bruce. “It will also provide a link between the Victoria University Kelburn campus and the School of Architecture and Design.”

“We are always looking for ways to enhance our services and add value for our customers. This new route 47 is an example of how we are continuing to achieve this goal.”

“We want to become the way our communities choose to travel,” Mr Kenyon concludes. “We’re passionate about growing public transport and expect that this initiative will get more people onto the buses.”

Route 47 will make its first run on Monday, 22 February, the first day of Orientation Week at Victoria University. It will only operate weekdays and during the university semesters.

The new service will also be convenient for shoppers, as it passes through Johnsonville, Ngaio and Khandallah shopping centres, as well as going past Otari Wilton’s Bush and stopping near Zealandia

Call Metlink on 0800 801 700 for more information on the new service, including timetables and fares.
