2010 Cycle Guide Hits Stands
2010 Cycle Guide Hits Stands
Just in time for Bike Wise Month, the Christchurch City Council has launched the new and improved 2010 Christchurch City Cycle Guide
Improvements include 16 additional cycle routes (taking the total to 28), coloured to distinguish on-road cycle routes from off-road and quieter streets, information on new cycle lanes and networks and routes for buses with bike racks.
Asset and Network Planning Manager, Terry Howes, says the Council has worked with cycling advisory group Spokes Canterbury, to create a guide that will be useful to road cyclists, mountain bikers and everyday cyclists.
"This year's guide is more user friendly and includes hints and tips about cycling in the city, how to get started and ways to stay safe. We've tried to develop a guide that will be useful to cyclists at all levels, whether they've been living in Christchurch all their life or just arrived.
"The new guide also leads people to the Council's cycling website, where the information is interactive and enables cyclists to get the hints, tips, maps and routes they need," he says.
The 2010 Christchurch City Cycle Guide is available at the Council's Civic Centre, service centres, most bike shops or for download at www.ccc.govt.nz/cycling.
