Powerball Struck Again

Media Release 30 January 2010

Powerball Struck Again

Just two weeks on from the last big win, Powerball First Division has been struck by a lucky player in Whanganui winning over $4 million, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

The winning ticket was purchased at Woolworths Lotto in Whanganui, and is worth a total of $4.33 million, with $4 million from Powerball First Division and a $333,333 share of Lotto First Division.

“Just two weeks ago, a Christchurch player beat the odds of 1 in 38 million and won themselves a $9.3 million fortune, so it’s great to see we’re making another Powerball multi-millionaire so soon,” says Mr McLeay.

Two other Lotto players also won $333,333 with Lotto First Division tonight. The winning tickets were sold at Ryder's Paper Plus, Balclutha, and an Invercargill player won online with MyLotto.

Strike Four was also struck tonight with three lucky players from Manukau, Waiuku and Hokitika each winning $62,525. The winning tickets were sold at Rosella Superette, Mangere, New World Waiuku, and Hokitika New World.

Tonight’s other big winner was the Waikato’s Hau Kirkwood, who spun and won the his and hers car package valued at $124,799 on tonight’s live Lotto Winning Wheel draw.

All Lotto players are automatically in the draw to win the opportunity to spin Lotto’s Winning Wheel, regardless of the type of ticket they buy. Players can check their ticket at any lottery outlet.

Tonight’s Winning Wheel ticket was won by a player who bought their ticket from Civic Video & Lotto Kerikeri. The serial number is 615-61400322-20XX.

“Anyone who bought a ticket at this retailer should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it as soon as possible,” Mr McLeay says.
