Help Save 1,000 SPCA Cats And Dogs On Valentine's Weekend
Tim is looking forward to Valentine's weekend this year. He's a nice-looking boy, a little rough around the edges but nothing a little TLC won't fix. And Rosie's a sweet girl, a little shy but loves a bit of a scratch behind the ears. They, like hundreds of other animals at SPCA centres across the country, will be dressed to impress and hoping to meet the loves of their lives during the annual Second Chance for Love Adopt-a-thon this Valentine's weekend.
The SPCA and Hill's TM Pet Nutrition will be celebrating their national pet Adopt-a-thon on 13 and 14 February in SPCA centres nationwide. Hill's TM Pet Nutrition is the exclusive feeding sponsor to the SPCA, providing pet food supplies for SPCA animals awaiting their forever families.
Last year twenty SPCA centres participated in the first-ever Second Chance for Love event, with over 500 lucky animals finding their forever homes.
This year, nearly thirty SPCA's will play match-maker, with the aim of finding soul-mates for even more animals. SPCA National Chief Executive Robyn Kippenberger says, "With more branches participating this year, and help from the public, I am sure we can double last year's total and find families for 1,000 animals. I would encourage anyone thinking of adopting a pet to take this opportunity to visit our centres and find their perfect match."
And Second Chance for Love isn't just for the animals - people will have fun too. Volunteers will be playing Cupid at each participating SPCA centre, sharing information on how to care for new four-legged additions to the family, and there will be opportunities for two-legged family members to win spot prizes and giveaways of Hill'sT pet food. Those who fall in love and adopt a little bundle of joy can also be in to win a year's supply of Hill'sT Science DietT pet food, by visiting the website at www.secondchanceforlove.co.nz and sharing their adoption story.
Donations to the SPCA can also be made through the Second Chance for Love website, and an online voting system will allow members of the public to vote for which SPCA branch they think deserves to win a $1,000 donation from Hill'sT.
Join in the fun at your local SPCA this Valentine's Weekend; you may just meet the love of your life.
