Aggravated Robbery in Christchurch

A 45 year old male is now recovering at home after having been released from Christchurch Hospital this morning after being the victim of a robbery at the Kiwibank ATM on Lincoln Road near Spencer Street around 3.00am this morning.

The victim was confronted by two men, punched in the face, knocked to the ground before being kicked in the ribs.

The offenders are described as possibly part Maori, one of solid build and the other medium build. Both are described as having Maori accents.

Acting Detective Sergeant Freeman of the Christchurch South Police said "The victim is still in some discomfort from his injuries and will be formally interviewed in the coming days. These offenders are likely to be no stranger to this type of offending. They attempted to steal the victim's wallet but made off with his black and white coloured bike helmet".

Any information as to the identity of these persons can be given to Acting Detective Sergeant Freeman at the Christchurch South Police by phoning 03-363-2572.

Michael Freeman
Acting Detective Sergeant
