Rotorua Safe Families Campaign Community Forum On Wednesday
ROTORUA 30.11.09: The Rotorua Safe Families Campaign [RSFC] community forum is being held on Wednesday 2 December at 9.30am at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre.
RSFC was formed in 2007 following the death of Rotorua toddler Nia Glassie as a result of violent injuries inflicted on her in her home environment.
Led by Mayor Kevin Winters, along with local social and health service providers, central government agencies and community representatives, the group’s objective is to promote safe, violence-free family environments in Rotorua.
Rotorua mayor Kevin Winters says the community meeting is to acknowledge RSFC’s achievements and its active contributors, to update the community on RSFC initiatives, recognise work that still needs to be done, and discuss where to from here.
“I encourage people in social, education and health services, as well as locals who dream of a safer community for our children, to come along and support the efforts of those committed to violence-free environments in our city.”
The Rotorua Safe Families Campaign community forum will include presentations on Super Maori Fullas visit, marae roadshows, White Ribbon resources, inter-agency forums, It’s Your Business CD, Blokes' Toolbox and Women's Toolbox, Service Scoping Report, and this Saturday’s Santa Parade.
