ZooMusic returns with six of the best for summer

Six of New Zealand’s top musical talents will be singing for the animals this summer at Auckland’s Zoo popular concert series, Wild Bean Cafe ZooMusic.

Opening the series is the dynamic eight-piece Wellington band The Black Seeds (29 Jan), followed by the award-winning Opshop (6 Feb).

Anika Moa performs in a double billing with Sola Rosa on 13 Feb before one of 2009’s hottest bands, Midnight Youth perform unplugged on 19 Feb at one of their only shows this summer in Auckland.

New Zealand Hall of Fame inductees, The Topp Twins (28 Feb) will take the stage with some old and new material before Opensouls and Batucada Sound Machine (double bill on 12 March) close out the series.

Now in its seventh year, the series has a well-earned reputation for delivering top Kiwi talent for locals and visitors to Auckland to enjoy at one of this city’s most unique venues. A great day and night out - a ZooMusic ticket is also entry to the zoo on concert day – so music lovers can come early and explore at their leisure.

Each three-hour concert will feature top support acts, and will support a specific conservation project – giving music lovers the opportunity to enjoy New Zealand’s hottest musical talents, while at the same time helping some of the planet’s most endangered animals, including the critically endangered Sumatran tiger and Maui dolphin.

“With one dollar from every ticket sold, a percentage of net profit from the series and money raised on the night through Wild Bean Cafe coffee sales, we hope to raise in excess of $25,000 for five key conservation projects” says the zoo’s conservation officer Peter Fraser.

ZooMusic sponsors, Wild Bean Cafe, return for a fourth season and continue their support for the series with sustainability and conservation efforts. Wild Bean Cafe Marketing Specialist Dan McPharlin says they are thrilled be part of a fun event that supports such worthy national and international conservation projects.
