Temporary road closures for Brother Christmas Spectacular

Hutt City Council advises the following road closures and no stopping restrictions have been approved for streets surrounding Fraser Park for the Brother Christmas Spectacular event on Saturday 5 December 2009 from 2 to 11pm.

Road closures

• Percy Cameron Street from Harcourt Werry Drive to Taita Drive,
• Taita Drive from Harcourt Werry Drive to Percy Cameron Street

No stopping restrictions

• Percy Cameron Street both sides, between Harcourt Werry Drive and Taita Drive, except for buses and mobility card holders
• Taita Drive – both sides, between Percy Cameron Street and Harcourt Werry Drive, except shuttle buses
• Reynolds Street – eastern side from Tocker Street to Taita Drive
• Churton Crescent – western side from Taita Drive to Taine Street

The 110 bus route will also be affected. Call Metlink on 0800 800 701 or visit www.metlink.org.nz for more information on diversions and replacement bus stops.

Parking for the event will be available off Harcourt Werry Drive (charges apply) or on the streets surrounding Fraser Park. Hutt City Council parking wardens and the New Zealand police will be on duty so please park with care and consideration to others.

For those wanting to take public transport a free shuttle service will run from Taita Shopping Centre on High Street to and from the event from 5 to 11pm. This is ideal for those intending to take the train from Wellington or Upper Hutt to Taita Station.

Congestion is expected to be heavy on Harcourt Werry Drive, Connelly Street, High Street, Kennedy Good Bridge and Fairway Drive. Hutt City Council encourages motorists to plan ahead for alternate routes around these locations if they are not intending to attend the event.


Liquor ban

A liquor ban will be in force around Fraser Park on 5 December from 12 noon to 12 midnight:
• the Hutt River (from Mabey Road to Nash Street)
• Fraser Park
• Nash Street, Reynolds Street, Tocker Street
• High Street (from Tocker Street to Mabey Road) and Mabey Road

Hutt City Council recreation and events manager, Duncan Chisholm says “It is appreciated the arrangements may cause some inconvenience, but the safety of residents and visitors to the event is of paramount importance. We are requesting everyone’s cooperation, so the event can be enjoyed in a safe and relaxed atmosphere."
