Remember your loved ones at Manukau Memorial Gardens this Christmas

Manukau Memorial Gardens invite residents to take time-out during the Christmas rush to remember and reflect on those loved ones who won’t be with them during the festive season.

A Remembrance Day will be held at the gardens on Sunday, 6 December and the chapel will be open between 9.30am and 5pm.

Inspired by similar days held in other large cities overseas, this is the third year Remembrance Day has been held at the gardens.

Manager of the gardens Noelene Mudgway extends a warm invitation to all Counties Manukau residents. “Everyone is welcome to visit our chapel and take some time-out to remember their loved ones this festive season.

“To meet the diverse needs of the community, this year there will be three extra services dedicated to children, the Indian community and victims of the recent Tongan and Samoan Tsunami”.

Christmas trees will be set-up in the chapel foyer and visitors will have the opportunity to place an angel or star accompanied by a personal message to their loved ones on a tree. A gold coin donation will be accepted on behalf of Heart Children New Zealand.

Services will be held at:

o        10:30am - Special Children’s Services

o        12 noon - Indian Service

o        1:30pm - Celebrant, Helen Rutledge

o        2:30pm - Rev Bob McKay officiates

o        3:30pm - Dedicated to Tongan and Samoan Tsunami Victims

All services are non-denominational and visitors are welcome to visit the chapel anytime between 9.30am and 5pm.
