Rescue Helicopter called to Injured Mountain Biker

Wellington Based Westpac Rescue Helicopter called to Marlborough Sounds to an Injured Mountain Biker
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called today 9th Nov 09 at 09:30 to mountain biker who had fallen off his bike on a trail behind the Lochmara Lodge in the Marlborough sounds.
A 48yr old male from Picton fell off his mountain bike while out riding with a couple of friends. The rider also had a seizure and had suffered some facial abrasions but no other injuries from the fall.
The Helicopter responded with the Wellington Free Paramedic who is based at the Life flight Hanger.
On arrival the Helicopter was able o land on a grass helicopter landing zone above the Lodge where a four wheel bike was able to transport the Paramedic and crew to the patient.
Once assessed the patient was then driven back to the helicopter and flown to the Wairau Emergency Department in Blenheim where he is being treated for his injuries.
