Manukau’s Latest Community and Event Funding

Manukau City Council’s Grants and Events Sub-Committee recently allocated $236,800 for various community projects. Grants were allocated from the following funds:
Immediate
Response Crime/Safety Fund
This fund provides
immediate grants for crime prevention and community safety
services in Manukau.
-- $2,000 to The Fatimah
Foundation towards the cost of the South East Asian Women
and Children’s Family Violence and Safety
Expo.
School Swimming Pool Fund
This fund
provides grants to Manukau schools that have swimming pools
which the community can use during the 2009/10 summer
weekends and holidays.
-- $17,800 was allocated to
the following primary schools:
Anchorage Park, Botany
Downs, Bucklands Beach, Clevedon, Cockle Bay, Macleans,
Maraetai Beach, Mellons Bay, Riverina and Shelly
Park.
Community Facilities Partnership
Scheme
Community Facilities Partnership Scheme funding
will support the development of multi-use community
facilities. Funding allocated was:
* $80,000 to the
Cockle Bay Tennis Club towards two new astro-turf courts,
security fencing and resurfacing two existing courts. The
funding is made up of a $40,000 grant from Botany Community
Board and $40,000 from Howick Community Board
*
$100,000 to the Totara Park Equestrian Centre Trust Board
towards a new covered arena on Totara Park. The funding is
made up of a $40,000 grant from the Botany Community board,
$50,000 from the Manurewa Community Board and $10,000 from
the Papatoetoe Community Board
* $30,000 to the
Pakuranga Tennis Club to resurface three tennis
courts
* $27,000 to Manukau Parks to construct six
concrete steel dugouts at Lloyd Elsmore Park on behalf of
the Howick Pakuranga Baseball Inc.
The Community
Facilities Partnership Scheme is intended to support
community groups to obtain grants from other funding
organisations. To be eligible, the proposed project must be
located on a Manukau City Council
reserve.
