Draft South New Brighton Reserves Management Plan
9 October 2009
A draft management plan for three
reserves in South New Brighton is now available and open for
public submissions.
The Christchurch City Council
would like to know the views of the community to assist with
finalising the draft management plan, which covers Blighs
Garden, Bridge Reserve and South New Brighton
Park.
Terry Howes, Asset and Network Planning Manager
says the draft management plan presents a vision, as well as
specific objectives and policies for management of the
reserves.
"The management plan incorporates feedback
gathered from community consultation since 2007 as well as
plans to show how the reserves could be developed.
"Examples of development include new recreation
facilities concentrated in the active zone of South New
Brighton Reserve, a 10-20m wide coastal fringe of native
planting, retaining the existing woodlot and upgrading the
main track for shared use walking and cycling."
The
draft management plan is available on line at the Have Your
Say website www.ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay or you can view a
copy at the South New Brighton Library, Central Library,
Shirley Service Centre and the Civic Offices on Tuam Street.
You are invited to fill in a submission form with
your comments on the plan and send it to us by 5pm on Monday
21 December 2009. Submission forms are available at the
above locations.
A Reserves Hearings Panel will
convene in February 2010 to view all written submissions,
hear verbal submissions and make recommendations to the
Council for the final plan. You may speak to this panel in
regards to your submission if you wish. This must be
indicated on your submission
form.
