ARC Environmental Awards

Nominate yourself or someone else for an environment award

The Auckland Regional Council is seeking nominations for its 2009 Sustainable Environment Awards.

Sustainable Environment Awards project leader Cathy Klouwens says there are seven awards categories including three new recycling categories, this year.

General categories

·         Individual – sustainable environment leadership award

·         Sustainable Schools – sustainable environment achievement award

·         Youth – environmental guardians of the future award

·         Sustainable Communities – sustainable environment achievement award

 

Special category – Beyond Recycling waste minimisation award.

·         Sustainable Business

·         Community

·         Schools

Environmental Management Committee deputy chair Jan Sinclair urges people to nominate themselves or deserving friends or family for an award.

“If you go by past winners they are the last people that would ever expect or seek recognition but they are the first that deserve it,” says Cr Sinclair.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Auckland on 25 February 2010.
